Woo, nice round number of the numbered posts. I’ve been thinking about some of the pony show episodes and was pondering the episode with Maud Pie. Where Pinkie’s behavior is possibly the first time we’ve seen her actually nervous about something. Another episode thought that just popped into my brain. In the Crystal Empire episode, Cadance was protecting the entire city with a dome of magic. Why wasn’t Shining Armor doing that? I mean, even barely conscious he could maintain a city-sized globe barrier that held up against an entire army hitting it several times. Extrapolating from that, Sombra must not have been a physical presence, something that Shining Armor’s protection spells could not block.
Let’s try something new and see how it looks. Putting the titles for the stories above the break, so people just glancing at the blog each day can see what I covered.

Typical shipping story. If you like Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash, and you’ve already read all the good ones, this will probably be a decent time waster. Otherwise you aren’t missing much if you skip it. Nearly textbook example of Alien Shipping Syndrome.
This was funny, but not as funny as I had hoped. Missed that edge of sheer ridiculousness that would have catapulted it into hilarious territory. I think making the CMC the primary viewpoints is what I would have changed. Make them secondary viewpoints sure, but have most of the story told either following the guards around or stay with captured twilight at the center everything going on. I did find it implausiable that Twilight Sparkle didn’t read the guard training manual for these things. I mean, brother in the royal guard? Obsessive need to read everything she can get her hooves on? Of course she would know every little detail of obscure training laws. It would have been better if she made a plan based on some obscure rule than have the story depend on her not knowing a fairly simple one.
Decent story. Well-written. Wasn’t expecting it to follow the cover so closely. Rarity and Twilight Sparkle doing the Red Lobster/Bookfort thing is just silly. Something a little less internet meme-y would have been a lot better. Yet the shared friendship moment is still a good one. Would recommend.
