Pony Stories 396

27 Apr

For the person or persons looking for Cold In Gardez stories, which were two of the four top search results leading to this blog when I was writing this up, you want to either go here Cold in Gardez if you are looking for his stories, or here the big master review list if you are looking for reviews of his stories. Also, congratulations for having good taste in fan fiction. In other news, why are all the cool pony cons over on the west coast? They should be over here where I can more easily rationalize going to one of them. Plus I want to get my hands on a physical copy of Twilight’s Secret Shipfic Folder.

Simply Rarity by Somber

Well, perhaps reading this wasn’t the best choice when already depressed. Certainly got an emotional reaction from me, so the writing is pretty good. Just the usual nitpick about how much of  real world problems should be present in Equestria.

The Brightest Timeline by protractror

Huh, better than I expected. Another story about alternate timelines. Interesting to see a difference between the one that had Twilight reacting with apathetic despair and how Pinkie Pie handles the ideas in this one.

Rocketmare by Rust

Was good enough I wanted more, but it really isn’t fan fiction. So, recommended if you don’t mind a complete lack of pony.

why are all the cool pony cons over on the west coast? the other side of the Atlantic? 😛

My own review of Simply Rarity is due tomorrow, and I thought it was very good — except for the opening scene, which is rather shaky, even allowing for the fact that the story was written in the S1 era. I agree with you about Rocketmare — it’s a decent tale, but it wouldn’t have been very different as a straight human SF story.

Well, I’d hope that Cold in Gardez knows where he is. If he’s looking for CiG, we might be doomed.
