Another thought from my rewatch of season… 6? Yeah. The ongoing season is 7, so the last full season must have been 6. Right? Anyway, thoughts. The episode where Spike almost becomes the dragon lord (wonder if he would have done that if he had thought about all the gems an army of dragon could give Rarity, or the fact that he would technically be royalty and Rarity likes that sort of thing). I realized that the dragon lord doesn’t seem to have any real power of compulsion. As in, he makes dragons glow to summon them, but there doesn’t seem to be any magical control or punishment for dragons disobeying him. Dragon Lord Torch was obviously the biggest dragon, compared to the adult dragons we’ve seen in other episodes. Yet when… the jerk red dragon whose name I don’t remember. When Spike orders him to hug every dragon he sees on the way home he protests in a ‘I do not want to do this’ fashion, but he does it. No questioning if Spike can give him orders or anything like that. Given that we haven’t seen any subtle mind-control in the show (plenty of blatant, but nothing subtle) I think it shows that the dragons have a huge respect for their leaders.

This was pretty cool. I liked that it wasn’t typical shipping fodder. Rainbow Dash’s reasons where nice and non-cliche. Actually, now that I think about it, this is basically Dance ‘Til We’re High with a bit more emotional investment for Rainbow Dash. Which I suppose is actually a bit of a spoiler, but the strength of the story isn’t the big reveal at the end. Because there isn’t a bit reveal at the end.
Eh, a bit disappointing really. The entire thing is Twilight Sparkle overhears Sunset Shimmer talking to Rarity about her crush on Twilight Sparkle. I have liked the authors fluffy shipping pieces before, but this doesn’t even really have the cuteness of his previous efforts.
