Ad Astra by Jack Campbell is a collection of shorts stories by the author of the Lost Fleet series. It is also more proof for my theory that short stories are better on average. I like his Lost Fleet novels, but feel they are a bit padded and simple. Enjoyable, but nowhere near the end of the complexity spectrum that The Quantum Thief hangs out. These short stories are much better that his novels in my opinion. They are in general fairly short, actual proper under five thousand word shorts instead of the slightly longer non-full length fiction I’ve been reading.

Been thinking a lot about My Little Pony and series continuity in general and both fandom and personal canon. Figured I should have a place to try and explore the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic that exists in my head. It’s made up of bits and pieces of the show, bits of fandom artwork and music, random other unrelated adjustments from the internet, and way too much time rolling around in my head to mix it all together. Updated as my headspace on the issue changes.
This is the first intro I wrote for my Broken Gods setting. It might not be accurate anymore, or might be just what PCs living in that world believe. This was the first and one story and one class came from this, hopefully to be followed by more. Some later material might contradict what is in here, but I don’t intend to change this. For in a world where the gods broke reality to kill each other with the sharp edges of the world, accuracy is fleeting.
4 Conversations About 1 Thing by Gofindnova is yet another pony fan fiction short story. I really need to start reading longer works. I’m tearing through one or two of these a day and my energy to blog about them is unable to keep up. I actually finished this one yesterday and wrote down my thoughts in my notebook, but this was the first time I felt like posting anything online. On to the story. This one is another short story that involves the relationship between Celestia and Luna, as well as the consequences of immortality. Though in this case it is more focused on how things change over the centuries than the sadder aspects. A large part of it is about Luna trying to adjust to modern life after being away for a thousand years.
Another combined with two more My Little Pony fan fiction short stories. I read these both while out on errands, so they are both fairly short. This time I wrote down my initial thoughts of the first one before moving on to the second so I wouldn’t get my impressions of it muddled with the second. The two short stories are For Those We Left Behind by Drakmire and Memories Of Those Friends Who’ve Gone Before us by WTFHIW. Both involve loss and remembrance so I got luck in that they go together thematically fairly well.
