Welcome to Night Vale live show

My mom had her birthday a month or two ago. My present, not revealed at the time, was tickets to the newest Welcome to Night Vale live show that was happening in Boston. I just told her ‘we have an event on (this date)’ and left the rest a mystery. Well, the mystery has been revealed and we just got back from the show.

It was pretty good! The previous live shows (of which they released recordings of after the last show of each run) were different enough that I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. The audience participation was lower in this one that others, which I appreciated. the script was interesting but didn’t have that cosmic paranoia surreal slice-of-life quality that I like so much about early Night Vale.

Overall? I’d recommend going to it if you haven’t been to a Night Vale live show. It’s definitely something a fan of the show (past or present) should experience at least once. Plus, as a minor note, the lady who does the voice for the character of Michelle Nguyen is hot as fuck. Well, the girl who does Tamika Flynn was pretty sexy too, but her voice grates on me if I listen to it longer than a few lines so I can’t really be excited about that. Whereas Michelle (the character) always had a sexy voice in my opinion.

I seem to have gotten a little off track. If you are a current fan of the podcast you certainly should go see the live show if it is coming to your area. If you are a past fan of the show, you should experience a live show at least once. If you caught one of the previous ones, no real reason to go to this one unless you *really* liked that live show.

New computer gizmo

Due to the immense generosity of someone who has far too much money and likes the Big Master Review List, I have bought myself a mobile hotspot to use with my writing laptop. Which means I will hopefully get more actual writing done in the near future! I use dropbox to sync my writing program between my desktop and laptop and the wireless connection in my corner of the house is terrible. My desktop has a physical connection to the house internet bandwidth. My laptop does not so whenever I turned it on it took forever to sync up with dropbox. Talking like 10+ minutes.

This post, in fact, is written on my laptop with the internet connection of the hotspot. Which took a good amount of fiddling and frustration to get working smoothly. Pretty sure nothing I actually did led to it working but oh well. That’s computer troubleshooting for you.

Pony Stories 894

So, I’ve been watching an anime titled Overlord. Liked the first season. Second season disappointed me. Not even halfway through the third season and I’m not going to watch any more episodes. Because I kind of hate it now. Blargh. Why is it the creators of cool things never seem to like the parts of their things that I do? Seems like 4 times out of 5 the things I like about something are ignored or actively worked against by other people who like the same thing. But now, pony fic reviews. Because I’ve actually gotten through some new ponyfic instead of rereading stuff.

Tales Of The Canterlot Deportation Agency: Jack
A decent superhero story. Shame about it technically being my little pony fan fiction. I finished it because it wasn’t that long, but it really wasn’t what I wanted. If you want a superhero story then you’ll want to give this a try. If you want ponyfic or pony bureaucracy fun, this is not one to read.

Tales Of The Canterlot Deportation Agency: Soul Survivor
This one was a lot like the previous. Decent to good story, terrible pony fan fiction. Though it does have more pony than the previous one. Plus I actually know something about the other half of the crossover and that probably increased my enjoyment. Still, I’d only recommend this one for people who have already read most of the other CDA stories. Got me wanting to read the end of the old world of darkness gamebooks, though.
