Pony Stories 399

Fun trivia from the big master review list: The word ‘Crime’ shows up in only two titles/authors. The first being Crime and Funishment by Aragon, and the second is Futa Chrysalis and Twilight Sparkle Fight Crime: A Futa Chrysalis and Twilight Sparkle Adventure by Courts. Obviously this is a new genre, just as soon as we figure out if the two have anything else in common. Oh, and in other big master review list trivia: Paul’s Persistently Protracted Practice Pieces by PaulAsaran is the 5000th story on the list.

Woo. Broke the 5k line for number of stories on the big master review list thanks to PresentPerfect. Which I kinda figured, just from the statistics.Next big round number is gonna be 8000 reviews total. Which, funny enough, means that we are getting less than two reviews per story on the average. Given that like two dozen stories have 8+ reviews and the most reviewed story has 11 reviews, means there is a lot of stories with just 1 review.

Anyway, now I’m gonna ramble about something else that’s popped into my head a few times while I’m updating the spreadsheet. Since I go to every story page to copy/paste the author and title of the stories, I see a lot of those pages. Which leads me to glancing up to the right upper corner to see how long the author has been offline/online. Sometimes it’s a few minutes, sometimes its months, a couple of times it’s been years. Which is occasionally a good thing since I hate linking to a bad review and then having the bookshelf notification get sent to the author. So knowing they haven’t been around for 90+ weeks means I don’t have to worry about it.

But that’s not what I’ve been rolling around in my head while I’m doing recreational data entry. I’ve been wondering when exactly, just based on the offline time, you could consider a person not active anymore? I see a author who hasn’t been around for 2-3 days and I figure that they could just not obsessively check the site couple of times a day, or are on vacation. someone hasn’t been online for 60 days is probably not coming back (some exceptions, but confident about using that as a rule of thumb). So, five days? Seven? Two weeks? I know there really isn’t an answer. Just sometimes curious when I see an author that’s been gone for 10 days and wonder if they are coming back or not.

Pony Stories 397

So, waiting for the big master review list to hit 5000 stories. It’s been holding at like 5995+ for a while now. Was at 4998 and then Paul’s Monday Reviews X got posted and I was like, five reviews has to add at least two new stories to the list. Nope. List (as of typing this intro bit) stands at 4999 different stories. I could just add my reviews, but I always feel weird using my own reviews to get to the big round numbers. Especially when I have vague half-formed ideas to do something to commemorate the occasion. Of course the last time I did that it took like four months to get around to it, so I suppose it’s not a big deal.

  • Fall by Axan Zenith

The Frozen West by Cozy Mark IV

Very good. Much too short. Its just a what-if vignette. Got a good amount of creepy implications as well near the end. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who likes alternate universe explorations.

Fall by Axan Zenith

Good, though it would have been better without the second person perspective.

For the person or persons looking for Cold In Gardez stories, which were two of the four top search results leading to this blog when I was writing this up, you want to either go here Cold in Gardez if you are looking for his stories, or here the big master review list if you are looking for reviews of his stories. Also, congratulations for having good taste in fan fiction. In other news, why are all the cool pony cons over on the west coast? They should be over here where I can more easily rationalize going to one of them. Plus I want to get my hands on a physical copy of Twilight’s Secret Shipfic Folder.

Watching episodes #13

Annoying that my amazon season pass doesn’t get me the episodes of MLP until four or five days later. So torrents and youtube to the rescue! Mostly so I don’t have to avoid all the posts of people talking about it for a couple of days. Because I want to read them, but only after I’ve seen the episode myself, and trying to go back a few days through the feed on fimfiction is annoying.

Anyway, episode. Favorite part? The who’s on first sequence with Clear Skies and Open Skies. Also, Rainbow Dash was pretty much just trying to stop winter in her own town. Not like she was trying to destroy all of winter entirely. She just gets carried away and doesn’t think her actions through. See: selling her friend Fluttershy into slavery for a book. Though I think it would have been easier just to have whoever made the flying gadget to make a magic heating coat. It’s the cold that’s doing it after all.

Today we’ve got a Applejack vs Rainbow Dash episodes. Iron ponies and leaf racing. Episode begins!
