New phone case

Today a nice filler post. Got the custom phone case in the mail yesterday. Not bad result. I tried a wallet case and decided it just wasn’t what I was looking for. So I was going to just have the phone be free and unbound. The problem turned out to be that the camera on the back sticks out and so anytime I put the phone down on a flat surface it wasn’t flat. Which annoyed me to no end. So went with a basic cover-the-back case. Now it is nice and flat on the back. As for the image I got? Went with more Fallout: Equestria branding. Picture below.

Changing my mind, yep.

Spelljammer is fun and all, but now that I think about it I do like Planescape more. Guess it was all the long-distance travel stuff I was reading. As interesting as the basic idea is I will admit that there isn’t a whole lot of variety in travel between crystal spheres in Spelljammer. Which is kind of hilarious since I doubt there would be much long distance travel in the game I will be running. Which is a argument to not run a Spelljammer game I suppose. Time to break out all my Planescape stuff to get inspired. That and put away all the sandbox and hex mapping stuff I was reading because it won’t actually be all that useful. Guess it just depends on what I think the actual game will cover and pick something that will fit that, instead of thinking one thing is cool and then having to fit the cool idea to the group/game.

Spelljammer travel

Game content continues. Today going to be typing up my basic idea for long-distance travel for Spelljammer ships. I haven’t read ponyfic in like a week. I hardly recognize the world I’m living in! Do plan to do more of that sometime soon. Just fighting against the depression is taking other paths at the moment. So now onto wooded ships shaped like fish traveling between the crystal spheres that contain solar systems!

Inventory

More roleplaying game rambles. Pretty sure this is going to be an ongoing thing for a while. My almost a whole day of thinking about the game I will be running in a few months has gotten a lot of thoughts rolling around in my head. Once again not going to go deep into mechanics. Though this will have a bit more of that than yesterday’s magic post. One of the things I’ve liked about Torchbearer is the approach to how much stuff a PC can carry. It is a little blunt, but basically there is a space on the sheet you write your inventory on and when the slots of your backpack and belt and stuff are full that’s all the stuff the PC can carry. Physical space on the character sheet as inventory space for the character. I was going to say I ran into this elsewhere and enjoyed it, but now that I think about it I suspect it was in Mouse Guard. Which is just the same system adapted for heroic mice.

Magic system

So, actually having a gaming group has me thinking about Dungeons and Dragons type stuff once again. The fact that I’ve volunteered to run something has me working on what exactly I will be running. Not the adventure, but the system and the general setting. I’m thinking to run Spelljammer. D&D in Spaaaace! I still have all the cool ideas from the last time I ran Spelljammer. Which was… Jeeze, almost a decade ago at this point? It’s been much too long since I’ve run a game. Stupid social glitches in my brain. So I start to look through my gathered collection of roleplaying books and advice and internet bookmarks. Which get my brain up and running in a way that I haven’t enjoyed in far too long. Which is nice.
